The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), on behalf of construction employers, is working with Nottingham City Council City Region on the JOINT INVESTMENT STRATEGY (JIS) to promote growth in the construction sector.  This has been developed as part of a national CITB programme to deliver joint investment plans within key cities around England.

Our  Joint Investment project is undertaking activity to support growth in the construction industry across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire through a range of skills and employment interventions over an 18 month to 2 year period.  It has been developed with active input from local construction employers and stakeholders.

These interventions are specific to the needs of our locality and are aimed at getting people back into employment in the construction industry, as well as improving skills levels and business performance.

JIS will support local construction businesses, local people looking to enter or get back into employment in the Industry and organisations to achieve realistic skills, employment and apprenticeships outcomes, through improved procurement, planning strategy and practices.

Nottingham's proposal for the JIS consists of 3 clear amibitions, which link to the to the Government's Construction Strategic Vision for 2025:
