Canal Engineering will be holding an Information & Selection session at their Lenton premises on Tuesday 3rd of October.

Time for arrival at their premises is 9.15am and you must be there on time as latecomers cannot be admitted, as the group will have moved away from initial reception area.

Location : Canal Engineering, Unit 8 Easter Park (opposite Games Workshop), Lenton Lane, Nottingham, NG7 2PX.

(Please be aware that parking is not available and travel by tram is the most convenient option).

In order to support the sector, Canal Engineering Ltd have set up CEATA, an accredited on site centre to train ambitious people in the art of metalwork, fabrication, and welding at their Lenton Lane base in Nottingham. The training received and qualification achieved, will meet the national requirements and are fully recognised and accepted by employers throughout the UK.

The training will include:

Complying with statutory regulations and organisational requirements
Using and interpreting engineering data and documentation
Working efficiently and effectively in engineering
Joining material by MIG welding

People wanting to apply for and complete the Canal Engineering sbwa MUST attend this selection and information session first.
The sbwa course will start on Tuesday 10th of October

More than half of the people who complete this course are now working in the Engineering industry!


  • 18+ years of age
  • Economically inactive, unemployed and claiming JSA, IS, UC or ESA (WRAG).
  • A citizen of a country within the European Economic Area (EEA) or have the Right of Abode in the UK, and
  • Have been resident in the EEA for at least the previous three years on the first day of learning
