As you probably already know, there is potentially £50m+ of ESF funding to be allocated across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire to support economic development and employment and skills projects. These funds need to be committed before March 2019. It is anticipated that a series of calls to bid for these funds will be released by the D2N2 LEP before the end of this year and in early 2018.

ESF provides 50% funding for projects and so represents an opportunity to lever in additional funds which might enable projects and activity to go-ahead that would not otherwise happen due to lack of funding or organisational capacity .

Nottingham City Council is keen to identify potential community-based partners who we may be able to collaborate with to develop applications for ESF funding. We have identified the following broad project areas within the employment and skills arena:

  • Community engagement (particularly supporting specific hard-to-reach groups, family learning for unemployed parents)
  • 15-24 years old provision (incl. SEN provision, NEET prevention, careers and education business partnership)
  • Health and Work
  • Entrepreneurship
  • In-work support
  • Skills support/bank (specific sectors)
  • Homelessness
  • ESOL provision

We are looking to work with a range of delivery partners, to do this we need to gather some information about the wider activities of community based organisations that might align with future ESF project calls. We also need to identify any sources of match funding that we can factor in to draw down ESF funding.

We would like to find out if you are interested in working with Nottingham City Council and if you are, ask that you complete and return the Expression of Interest proforma that will give us enough basic information to begin a dialogue.

If you wish to discuss this in any more detail, then please call or email either Nigel Jackson or Paul Crookendale using the contacts below. Because the calls for ESF projects could come out at any time, we would appreciate the return of your Expression of Interest by Friday 6th October 2017.

Please return completed forms to ces@nottinghamcity.gov.uk
