RESPONSIBLE TO:              General Manager & Area Manager

LOCATION:                          Nottingham


To ensure the smooth day to day running of the restaurant in line with Company timelines and standards; adherence to order of service and staff competence in customer service activities; ensuring that the restaurant is cleaned daily and maintained as per the Company cleaning standards guidelines; and that all restaurant service assistants, hosts and bar tenders are adhering to food safety and health and safety guidelines at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven supervisory  experience within the catering/hospitality sector
  • Excellent soft skills including communication, man-management, motivation skills, leadership and embodiment of our family values
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of waiters & waitresses, hosts & bar tenders within a fast casual restaurant environment
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain standards
  • To have a confident, professional and welcoming personality.
  • High standards of cleanliness

Desirable Requirements

  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • An appropriate supervisory/management qualification within the catering/hospitality sector
  • IT skills (inc. Microsoft Office) and ability to grasp new people management systems

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the daily co-ordination of the restaurant, and managing the restaurant in its entirety on given shifts
  • Ensuring that customer orders are accurately prepared and delivered in a timely manner and according to set company policies/procedures and timescales
  • Providing staff with clear instruction and feedback on shift, including ensuring that all staff adhere to the correct order of service, Company policies and procedures, and service standards & timescales
  • Providing staff with ongoing feedback as to performance and progression including involvement in probationary, performance and improvement reviews
  • Demonstrating, maintaining and developing relationships with customers & colleagues alike
  • Responsibility for ensuring that  excellent customer service is delivered throughout each customers visit, including check backs, staff guidance and support, and ability to deal effectively with complaints
  • Responsibility for training new members of staff (including supervisors & Managers) and providing constructive feedback & objectives alongside the General Manager; and for training all team members on menu or procedural changes in line with Company methods and practices
  • Working within budgetary controls and delivering within these budgets, reporting to the General Manager (including labour, wastage and forecasts)
  • Responsibility for planning rotas alongside department supervisors & managers
  • Completing stock takes as per Company guidelines, identifying quantities and placing weekly orders with suppliers
  • Ensuring that all team members are aware of stock availability (food, beverage and desserts) ahead of starting shift (including promoting and up-selling activities on food and beverages)
  • Completing full opening set up ahead of service on given shifts, including resolving any problems / issues from the previous shift
  • Accurately cash-up and close down the bar, host station & restaurant in its entirety on given shifts, and follow full end of night procedures and administration
  • Liaising with the Restaurant Management & Kitchen Management team regarding procedures, service and standards during operation as required
  • Consistently striving to improve the standards of hygiene and service throughout the restaurant as a whole, delegating activities as required, and taking accountability for actions listed during audits, QAVs and EHO visits
  • Ensuring all deliveries are checked in correctly and that all relevant delivery notes are correct, and passed onto the Restaurant Administrator for action
  • Maintaining the required standards of operational hygiene according to cleaning checklists at all times
  • Ensuring that all staff adhere to licensing regulations and adhere to policies laid out within Challenge 25, and consistently comply to Health and Safety legislation
  • Continually ensure that up to date knowledge is maintained of Georges standards and policies and procedures

The post holder may be required to perform duties other than those given in the job description for the post.  Such variations are a common occurrence and would not in themselves justify the revaluation of the post
