Our new and visionary Global Strategy 2020 puts students firmly at the heart of the University and makes them partners in their own education.  In this new role you will make our aspiration real and meaningful by creating a new Student Services organisation and leading the transformation of student facing services.

Project Transform is a multi-million pound investment to redesign the processes which underpin the whole student journey from their first enquiry, through application and admission, study and progression, graduation and on to their relationship with the University as alumni. The aim is to standardise, harmonise and simplify these processes across the three Nottingham, China and Malaysia campuses so as to provide professional, personalised services for students. A new suite of integrated information systems is being implemented to enable this. These systems and our ambition to deliver joined up efficient services will require a new operating model and organisational design which will change the relationship and distribution of responsibilities between Central Professional Services Departments, Faculties and the 23 Academic Schools in the UK and the equivalent in China and Malaysia. This is a once in a decade opportunity to design and deliver sector leading student lifecycle management support, to build on what we do well and to drive efficiencies in the way we deliver services.

The Senior Managers working within the Specialist Processes team based in Student Services provide specialist advice and direction as well as ensure the delivery of a number of key services. Role holders will liaise, influence and negotiate with colleagues across The University of Nottingham in the UK as well as the China and Malaysia campuses to develop effective policies and standardised processes, and be required to resolve problems where the optimal solution may not be immediately apparent. 

The focus for this role is to manage student finance processes including the charging of tuition, accommodation and other fees, as well as processes related to payment receipting, debt management, refunds, accounting and reporting. The role holder should have a broad understanding of general finance processes and preferably some knowledge of tuition fees within Higher Education.  The role holder will line manage a small team who will carry out some of the finance processes (posting charges, refunds and generation of accounting entries).  Although the role holder will not directly line manage all the teams carrying out these processes, it will be necessary to work very closely with them to make sure processes and policies are adhered to. The role holder will act as the main point of contact for any escalated student finance process queries within the UK campus as well as the China and Malaysia campuses and work closely with the relevant Finance departments.
