It is hoped that many of the roles will be taken by people who are currently unemployed or are looking for more permanent work. However, they are open to anyone who wishes to apply.
As part of the recruitment process, currently unemployed applicants can attend information days, followed by a week of pre-employment training. While there are full and part-time vacancies, all applicants will work full-time for the first four weeks of their employment. After this, exact hours of work will be agreed.
From opening its first store in 1989 in Plymouth, The Range is now the fastest growing retailer in the UK. With over 140 stores nationwide, it stocks more than 65,000 products across 16 different departments, from Homewares and Furniture to DIY and Art Supplies.
The vacancies are being recruited to by the Nottingham Jobs Hub. This pulls together professional careers advisers from the Ofsted rated outstanding Futures Advice, Skills and Employment, Nottingham City Council’s recruitment experts and Jobcentre Plus work coaches, all of whom are best placed to support both employers to fill vacancies, and job seekers into work. It is one of the few examples of such collaboration in the country and is recognised for best practice by an international FT investment award.
Cllr Sam Webster, Nottingham City Council’s portfolio holder for Business, Education and Skills, says: “We’re delighted to support the recruitment of so many exciting roles with a leading UK retailer. I urge anyone who wishes to work in retail, customer service, or supervisory roles to consider applying. The new store is in the heart of the Radford area of Nottingham so we’re hoping many people from the local community will apply.”
